Rako mellifera | Tile Wall Sculpture | Liratov

Some names are already a work of art in themselves.

Rako mellifera — two words that evoke distinct worlds and fuse them into a single idea: something that transforms, that gathers, that builds from what already exists. This is exactly how Liratov works.

Using fragments of ceramic tile that others discarded, this anonymous artist from the Alto Minho region composes pieces that defy categorisation. Each fragment is observed, chosen and fitted with precision — not by accident, but by a creative logic that only the artist himself knows. The result is a wall sculpture with unmistakable presence: dense with meaning, light in form, impossible to ignore.

Like everything that comes from Liratov's hands, Rako mellifera is a unique, unrepeatable piece. There is no second one. There never will be.
