Belavidária Efjy | Tile Wall Sculpture | Liratov

Liratov does not imitate nature.
He reconstructs it — fragment by fragment.

Belavidária Efjy is born from the same obsessive process that defines the entire body of work of this anonymous artist from Alto Minho: discarded Portuguese ceramic tiles, collected, observed and recomposed until they form something that did not exist before. There is no preliminary sketch that explains the result. There is an eye, there is patience, and there is an entirely own visual language — somewhere between urban art, the Portuguese tile-making tradition and contemporary sculpture.

What results is a large-scale piece with a presence that occupies the wall before any other element in the room. It needs no context. It needs no frame. It only needs space — and someone who knows how to recognise what they are looking at.

Like all of Liratov's work: it is unique. Unrepeatable.
