Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen was one of the most important Portuguese poets of the 20th century. She was the first Portuguese woman to receive the most important literary award in the Portuguese language, the Camões Prize, in 1999. Her body has been in the National Pantheon since 2014, and she has a library named after her in Loulé.
